Pide with vegan meat and red pepper

Sometimes you remember dishes from the past or from the time when you ate meat and other animal products and want a vegan friendly version of them, which is also easy to make.

One of these recipes are these delicious dough boats that were always available at the kebab snack.

Basically, Pide can be filled with anything you want. Today we decided on a “minced meat” alternative with red pepper and chili.

The yeast dough should be kneaded properly, then it gets a particularly good consistency. If you then let it rest a little in a cozy, warm place without drafts, it opens up nicely and becomes pleasantly airy. This makes it easy to prepare the recipe (letting it rise a little longer is not a problem), but it is not something that can be prepared quickly.

  • 500 g flour
  • ½ cube of yeast
  • 1 tbsp plant-based yogurt
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 360 g vegan mince (out of the fridge)
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 small pointed pepper
  • 4-5 stalks of parsley
  • 2-3 tbsp paprika or tomato paste
  • dried chilli
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp plant drink (to brush on before baking)


  • Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the yeast, yoghurt, oil and sugar and add ¼ l of lukewarm water.
  • Mix everything and knead for 10 minutes to form a smooth, elastic dough.
  • Let rest in a warm place for about an hour until the volume doubles.
  • Finely chop the onions and garlic and cut the peppers into small cubes.
  • Mix everything together with the vegan mince in a bowl. Chop the parsley and add.
  • Add the tomato paste and dried chilli to the mixture and season with salt.
  • Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  • Knead the dough briefly at the end of the rising time and divide it into 4 parts.
  • Roll out the dough quarters on baking paper and distribute ¼ of the mince mixture on each. Leave 2-3 cm of space to the edge. Fold the edge over and brush with plant-based drink.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.


You can also fill the pide with any other veggies or cheeses. Just try out what you like!
